Question: I have seen Tony G call the clock on players after 30 seconds and the tournament referee comes over and does call the clock. Surely the other player can object to this? This is not a great thing to do. I would object most vociferously. After all you should be able to take a few minutes on occasion to make a tricky call?

Answer: Whenever a reasonable amount of time has expired… 30 seconds is like the bare minimum… usually you should allow 1min… before calling the clock…

It is (sort of) against etiquette to call the clock… but it is within the rules… and you have the right to do this

If you think your opponent is taking to long (it can also be tilting and can adversely affect you) you can call the floor over and ask for a clock…

DO NOT be scared to call the clock… it is within the rules

Question: Playing online poker from the UK and signing up with a site just how easy is it to withdraw various amounts of your own winnings, if you are good enough to be winning regularly that is? I have a bank account and VISA debit cards but do you really have to be on online banking as well? or do they send cheques? Just asking in advance of playing for the first time, any advice appreciated.

Answer: It’s really easy, especially for UK players. If you use a debit card you can deposit to the site with the card and then withdraw your winnings directly back to the card - even if the withdrawal is in the tens of thousands (some allow up to £100k per withdrawal).

Alternatively you can use PayPal, just like you would to buy something from ebay etc… Not every poker site offers paypal, but a lot of the big UK names do. Here’s a list of UK regulated poker rooms that take paypal: http://www.goodbonusguide.com/paypal-poker-sites.html

Question: Please answer if you can honestly help me

1. bible cast lots
thats gambling
2. if i win im ruinining people lives
thats kind of bad
3. i dont think that God could bless it
I just want what God wants for me, but if playing cards is ok then that would be nice
4. i dont think that poker is gambling because of the large element of skill involved
skill is very big in poker contrary to black jack and slot machines
5. really winning isnt stealing because the other players were given the same chances to win as i.
6. maybe in moderation?
i think overdosing anything can become a sin, but in moderation and a strict plan?
7. Not a job
i cant categorize poker as a job because in a job you are providing a service for people.
8. I love poker
I love it, i think it is an art. Seeing 2 people bluff eachother is incredible and thrilling. Its psychology its thinking very hard, its a lot of things, and its in my ball game, i love it, i want to do it, very very very much, but even more than that i want to stay close to God and have a relationship always with Jesus.

Somebody with a strong Christian mind Help Me!!!!

Answer: Hey man, we were made in God’s image. I know that is over used a lot, but im sure even God would appreciate some harmless competition. Poker is a hobby, it is extremely fun, and it is as much of a psychological battle as you can find. If you limit your spending, it may very well cost much less than other hobbies or activities. God sees recreational poker (as opposed to a gambling problem) just as harmless as a glass of wine with dinner (as opposed to binge drinking). What he frowns upon is playing poker until you’re spending your rent money or the money saved for your kids school clothes.

Answer: Mate, you have been missing on quite a saga… Take a look at the source bellow for a comprehensive update, but the gist of it is that Full Tilt got their gaming license suspended. It was a UK (AGCC) license, and the suspension was another result of Black Friday. FTP were seemingly on track to sell at least their UK division to some investor, and the AGCC were cooperating with them en route to re-instating their license, but less than couple of weeks ago they reported a snag in the negotiation. There are rumours that the investor was enquiring with the US dept. of justice about the possibility of returning to operating in the states as well and was rejected…

The next episode in this soap-opera is expected on Sep-15th, when the dead-line for another session of FTP’s hearing at the AGCC. It is currently hard to anticipate what will the result be, but it’s pretty clear at the moment that European FTP players are in a much better position to receive their funds back and even play at FTP again than our US counterparts. I’m crossing my fingers because it was my favourite online poker room as well.
