A poker question that should definitely interest you all this week
As a couple of the smarter folks mentioned, of course you can’t walk out of a tournament. In a cash game, however, you can play ONE HAND, win, and then walk out of the casino if you want to. You don’t owe anybody anything at a casino. You do what’s best for YOU!
I once played at the Bellagio in a game that was a bit over my head. The betting was CRAZY, and with some quick luck, i won three out of the first 5 hands, doubling up twice! This was a no-limit table. I looked at the mountain of chips I had in front of me, then I looked around the table and saw at least 4 people that had even more chips than me! (Just to make my point very clear - in no limit, there is always the possibility of going broke in ANY single hand. I didn’t want that to happen to me.)
After playing less than 5 minutes I simply said, "Sorry folks, but I’m just not good enough to be playing for this sort of money." I racked up my chips and left. Everyone there understood. Nobody had even so much as a sour face as I left the table.
Long story short, you’ve always got to do what’s best for YOU as far as your money in a poker game.

no.

all depends on what type of game and who you are playing.

Before starting the game they should specify whether or not.

Yes but you should give plenty of notice that you will be leaving, like say "I have to go in an hour or half an hour." No less then 30 minutes in my opinion to be fair to the other players. You will not be very popular at all if you win a big pot and then say you have to leave right away, that is not fair. Online is a different story, you can leave 10 minutes after sitting a table and nobody can do or say anything about it.

Yes. You can walk out of a cash game and keep any money you’ve made.
You can’t walk away with your chips if you are playing a tournament though.

If it’s a tournament then no, your chips are worth nothing until you place in the tournament. You can take a break, but your blinds will be posted for you while you’re gone.
If it’s a cash game then yes, you can leave at any time and cash your chips. If you want to take a break, you can leave for a while, then when you come back you post your missed BB and SB. If you leave for more than an hour and people are waiting to sit at the table, your chips get bagged and you have to see the floor person to claim them.
But as someone said, there’s a rule of poker etiquette that you shouldn’t leave shortly after winning a big amount, it makes people mad because they want a chance to win their money back. By "leave" I don’t mean take a break, I mean leave for good. Personally I don’t think there’s much logic to the rule, and I don’t get mad when people "run", but I still obey the rule since I’m a regular and I see a lot of the same faces (though usually I want to stay long anyway). I suppose the exception to the rule is if the people whose money you have leave, it’s okay for you to leave. Or, if you had already said "I’m leaving in X amount of time or rounds" before winning the big pot, then you can leave shortly after winning it without being accused of a hit-and-run.

You can walk out only after a game is done or all hands were shown and the pot was awarded, if you walk out in the middle of the game then you basically are folding and forfeit all bets you placed on the table… This will apply to both online and offline games..
