We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of poker. Let’s take a look:

Question: I keep losing

How do i play AA KK QQ

JJ 1010 99

88>below

AK AQ, AJ A10 KQ KJ QJ?

Rest

How do i play when the whole table are always calling station and loose… and always raising alot 4x pre ballooning the pot everytime

I use to be tight agreesive… after years of losing streaks i changed to tight passive and only aggressive with AA and KK…

When i have AA and it is 1054 or something good… i am always scared of set (because you have no idea how many times some russian elephant runner tunner outdraws me freaking hate them they are the luckiest prcks ever)

Answer: In the long run if you make the correct decisions you will win. Poker is a long term game. In the short run you will lose with AA vs 22 if they flop a set on a low board, thats poker. If you start becoming afraid of losing to a set everytime and don’t extract value with your big hands because you are afriad of a bad beat you will not be profitable. Practice makes perfect, it takes a long time of consistent study and practice to be a winning player.

There are sites online where you can play so you can practice and become a winning player. I suggest playing small buy ins until you are comfortable so you don’t waste your money. You should stay away from the play money games because people don’t take them seriously they just push all in with anything there is no thought process behind it. A combination of reading the basics and getting out there and practicing is the most effective way to learn.

You can learn the basics of the game in a short amount of time but to be profitable at the game takes a lot of practice and study but its worth it once you learn, its a great hobby, job, or side income!

Sure, I’ll just rattle off how you play every single starting hand… because of course there is only one way, and your position at the table or chip stacks don’t mean a thing.

If you are always scared of a set, then stop playing.

If you can’t even spell "lose" then you’re in for a tough time.

I would just quit if I were you.
