Another poker question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
If you lose, the Prince of Darkness immediately gains possession of your soul, along with the souls of everyone in your family.
If you win, you and your family are all assured eternal salvation, and Lucifer goes sneaking off in shame.
You can, however, avoid this game and the gamble involved by immediately giving your soul to the Devil. In return, he will not go near your family and they will all be safe.
So, which is it to be? Do you gamble the souls of you and your family, or do you sacrifice your own soul in order to save your family?
Does nobody know the meaning of hypothetical?? Sheesh.
I don’t actually believe in Satan, but if I was answering the question, I’d sacrifice myself to ensure my family made it.
See, that was easy.
I swear you people don’t follow directions very well.

Gamble, and cheat.
"Wait a minute. How did you get two Aces of Spades?"
*halo*
"You have five Aces? What the f*ck?"
"New rules. Five Aces beats all other hands. You lose, sucker."
Edit: No. Nobody understands hypothetical questions. At least not in R&S. You might have better luck asking in Philosophy.

I would refuse to play the game.
Satan is not capable of giving eternal life in Heaven, therefore all three of your circumstances end up with everyone in Hell.
I would therefore offer different stakes:
If I win, I go to heaven.
If Satan wins, he goes to heaven.
If my family is involved at all, they each in turn get a crack at the game, same stakes.
That way, Satan has to win every time, but I only have to win once.

Since Satan does not exist there is no poker game and I automatically win.

I have a royal flush…. Satan can kiss my backside.
August 26, 2011
I’d gamble… the chances are better.
August 26, 2011
Fortunately, thanks to Jesus dying on the cross, I won’t have to gamble with my soul, like people who don’t accept him.
August 26, 2011
neither
1) satan does not posess the ability to ensure anyone salvation
2) I suck @poker

I am a fab poker player and satan would not have a chance against me. However I don’t believe in satan and I only play for money.
August 26, 2011
Deal those cards, sucker!
August 26, 2011
He’s the Prince of Darkness? Then who’s the King? Is there some kind of Superdevil?
August 26, 2011
I wouldn’t even try and beat him. I’d be scared sh*tless and I’m bad at poker on the best of days!!
August 26, 2011
I’d ask the devil for the corner office and air conditioning.
August 26, 2011
Jesus already assures me of eternal salvation, and Lucifer can do nothing about it. He already loses.
August 26, 2011
I would change the rules, and ask that if I win he would be permanently destroyed on the spot..
August 26, 2011
I’m answering this question for the entertainment value…just as I would do if it were Poker with the Devil… since I don’t believe in either Satan or the Soul… the outcome wouldn’t matter… but I would be entertained.

Add hookers and some LSD to the pot, and i’m in.
August 26, 2011
I’m a redhead. We don’t have souls, so your question is invalid.
August 26, 2011
Gamble, we were going there anyway, so nothing to lose.
August 26, 2011
I would pray to God.
The FIRST rule is, you NEVER, EVER play by the rules the bad guy offers you. Promise him whatever he wants, and first chance you get, shoot him in the nuts.
August 26, 2011
Satan is imaginary in my humble opinion.
August 26, 2011
Like someone already said, I’d play…and cheat.
Peace.
