A tough poker question this week. Let’s dive straight in
Question: Whenever I play SNG’s I’m usually very tight when playing hands and this usually let’s me get to at least third place coz most of the other players end up getting blinded out. When I do get to third place though I end up hitting and raising with crap cards or out of frustration from being tested by other players. I need some tips on how to get better? Thanks 
Answer: If you are making it to the final three more han 33% of the time then you are playing a winning game. Sounds like you are always making the money with a short stack however? In that case it is time to simply start pushing. You will get lucky sometimes and double up and then can compete for first.
If your short-handed game is what needs work, you just need to be selectively aggressive. The first one to raise usually takes down the pot, assuming your stack is not crippled.
Your problem is that in order to make the money with a bigger stack, you will need to change your entire approach. It means sacrificing, less in-the-money finishes in order to be a big stack when you do get there, and consequently have more 1st place finishes. You pretty much have to scrap your game plan and play a looser more aggressive style, which may or may not work out for you.
