A tough poker question this week. Let’s dive straight in
Question: im playing poker with my friends today, and since were all still in highschool and were all poor, were just playing for chips. that obv means we cant have a serious game because noone will play seriously, which is why we need something that the winner gets, and the loser has to do. ths is where the Y! Answers community’s help! nothing gross, nothing involving money. theres going to be 4 players, if that helps at all. but like i said, nothing gross, or giving up money. thank you!
Answer: Have you ever seen the movie Benny & June? It’s a really funny movie about a guy that takes care of his mildly retarded sister. Anyways, in the movie there is a group of guys that get together each week and play poker. They never play for money, but for small stakes items. They bet stuff like a bar of soap, some rope, tools, take out the garbage etc. At 1 point they get into a big hand and start betting big stuff like loser has to paint the winner’s house, or fix the plumbing in the bathroom, take my annoying cousin off my hands for the weekend, etc.
Since there is 4 of you, have each guy write up a list of things he’d like the other 3 to do for him if he wins the tournament and everyone has to agree to the lists before the game. That way you won’t have guys backing out after they lose saying "No way!!! I’ll never do that".
For example: If Tom wins then Rick has to cut his grass, Dan has to loan him his ipod for a month and John has to introduce Tom to his totally hot cousin and put in a good word for him. If Rick wins then the other 3 have to help him move furniture next weekend. Etc.

Isn’t the thrill of winning enough? Pretend it is real money and play and bet as if it were. See how good your game discipline is. Where else can you test that without risking money? When it is fake money you’ll stay in hands you’d normally fold unless you have discipline. You can end up learning sloppy habits that will hurt you in real games unless you test yourselef with zero on the line.
