This week’s question is as follows:

Question: my hole card and community card had Q-K-A-2-3
but i lost to a pair…i think it’s A-A

why?
isnt my Q-K-A-2-3 is a straight?
well, the question is obvious,

i have a Q-K-A-2-3, isnt this a straight?

i am just playing poker in facebook. so this means most poker games do not allow to make a straight from the highest? q-k-a.. and then the lowest 2-3?

Answer: No, you can’t have a "wrap around" straight of KQA23
A2345 is a straight, 5 high.
TJQKA is a straight, A high.
JKQA2 is not a straight, it’s just ace high.

An ace can be high or low to make a straight, but not both.

Because u don’t have a hand. Any pair beats nothing at all.

This doesnt make sense …. hole card?? Your supposed to have two of them …. and youve never told us what they were also theres two other cards missing …. Try again telling us the two cards dealt to you only and then the 5 cards face up on the board.

Just saw your update now. Very rarely some home games include the rule of the turn straight .. were you playing that rule agreed before the game started?? Plus what were the two cards dealt to you and then the others making up the board?? That still applies as there may have been a split pot from the straight as far as the information you provided us with goes due to only 5 cards mentioned. Again the rule should have been made clear at the start of the game to clarify.

Generally most games online dont recognise this as a straight in any form of Poker, whether it be against real life oponents online or programmed characters etc.

Not sure about Casinos as i have never been but im sure you will find out quickley enough. Generally best straight you can have is AKQJ10 and the lowest straight A2345

No, QKA23 is not a standard straight….that’s sometimes referred to as a round-the-corner straight and you’ll never see it accepted in a casino as anything except a high-card hand. About the only place a RTC straight might be accepted is in a home game with house rules specifically allowing uncommon hands like Big Dog, 4-flushes and the like (even then it’s pretty rare.)

B/c you had nothing. There are no wrap around straights. You either ha and A to 5 straight or a 10 to A straight.

    A. Playing online poker for real money from the US is not illegal except for a handful of states like Washington. There are still many poker rooms taking US players. I found this one that I like and they offer a rake back as well as rake races

you do not have a straight
a straight doesn’t go around the corner
    you have A K Q you would need a J 10 to have a straight
