We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of poker. Let’s take a look:
Question: I have seen Tony G call the clock on players after 30 seconds and the tournament referee comes over and does call the clock. Surely the other player can object to this? This is not a great thing to do. I would object most vociferously. After all you should be able to take a few minutes on occasion to make a tricky call?
Answer: Whenever a reasonable amount of time has expired… 30 seconds is like the bare minimum… usually you should allow 1min… before calling the clock…
It is (sort of) against etiquette to call the clock… but it is within the rules… and you have the right to do this
If you think your opponent is taking to long (it can also be tilting and can adversely affect you) you can call the floor over and ask for a clock…
DO NOT be scared to call the clock… it is within the rules
