We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of poker. Let’s take a look:
Question: so i was playing full tilt poker, on the play money thing, and i had, 6 of clubs, 7 of hearts, 8 of diamonds, 9 of hearts, and an ace of clubs.. and the other guy won with 2 pair, aces and jacks?
what the %^&$?
didnt i win….?
EDIT: doesnt it count as something?
6 7 8 9 and the ace as a wild,(a 10)?
i was playing 5 card draw by the way
actually no i wouldnt think it would beat it, i just though that it made a straight, its done it before in texas holdem, and for me in real life at a casino, in 5 card.
so how bout ya stop gettin smart? douche bag
Answer: You only had ace-high, the other guy had two pair. It takes five cards to make a straight…for example, 6,7,8,9,10 or 5,6,7,8,9.

Good thing you were playing play money, wasn’t it?
Any particular reason you think an Ace is always wild in 5 card draw?
(And if Aces were really wild, wouldn’t he have had 4 jacks, beating your made up straight… or would you think your straight would beat 4 jacks, too?)

No wild card games on FT. Perhaps you could suggest it.
So you had A hi.
I strongly suggest you read the game rules. Fortunately, it was only play money.
Had As been wild, the other guy would have had 4 of a kind (Js + 2As as Js). So you’d still have lost.
