Another poker question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away: Question: I usually play 9 handed NL holdem sit n gos but I accidently registered to an omaha game…which I know hardly anything about. I thought I was good on the flop as I had hit trip sixes (one in my hand) and I also had a pair of aces in my hand so I had a full house. The guy called my all in he had also hit the sixes so he had trips. He hit a nine...

This week’s question is as follows: Question: How many ways are there to get a five card poker hand with two pairs? i.e. AAJJ5 This is what I get: 13C1 * 4C2 * 12C1 * 4C2 * 11C1 * 4C1 = 247104 The actual answer is 247104 / 2 = 123552 Why do you need to divide by 2? I think it has something to do with the order you pick the cards for the pairs, but that doesn’t make sense to me. To get a full house, I would just do this: i.e....

FullTilt, PokerStars, UltimaBet mostly but others aswell. I’ve never ever finished on paying place. I dont think I play poorly but Im not a pro either. Many times after 2-3 hours of playing Im at around 200th place out...

What’s this week’s poker question? Let’s dive straight in… Question: I have come to the determination that skill is a part of poker, but it seems to me luck plays a bigger part. I had a morning 3 hours session of online poker today where I was playing 1/2 NL cash games, 2 tables at a time. 3 scenarios: 1. I had pocket aces on the button. There was a raise to $6 and two callers after. When it gets to me I raise...

This week’s question is as follows: Question: I seem to get some evil crazy bad hands recently - Ace high flush on flop beaten by small full house on river, etc… THESE are the hands I remember - I don’t remember when I got lucky with hands in my favour. Is the same true for you too that you only remember the losses not the wins? Maybe this is human nature? Maybe our brains are wired this way? Answer: Definitely normal,...

How many different houses are possible? (d). Calculate...

There are many reasons to play. It's...

We’ve have a reader question come in on the subject of poker hands. Let’s take a look: Question: I was playing poker with my friends today (super omaha..hold em' with 4 cards instead of 2). I had 2 queens and some other crap in my hand, and there was a queen on the table. My friend bet $1, and the other two guys folded. I pondered for a minute, and then I showed him my two queens, just to scare him. He layed down his cards...
